Why Borderlands 2 Isn't That Great

I preface this post by saying I do not hate or dislike Borderlands 2 at all, I just don't find it all that particularly great. On Monday the 17th, like a great many gamers I found myself waiting in line for the clock to strike 12, so that my friend could get his copy of Borderlands 2, we could rush to his house and play it deep into the next day.

Unlike the first Borderlands title I knew what I was getting into; FPS action, RPG elements, and so many guns. But this time the new car shine of the game didn't effect be as did the previous, I found myself an hour in quite bored and uninterested, and without exaggerating literally falling asleep. (I could've just been tired.) I spent the next two days at my friends house as he played the game, I mostly watched. This is no fault of borderlands 2, instead it is mostly my own. The game did just as it had advertised, delivering great gameplay, action, and much more. I can even admit that the second game is even better than the first. But for me the first title, and now the second just don't quite do it for me. And I cannot quite articulate why, but I will try now.

Playing borderlands 1 or 2 for me is very strange, I don't excited, I don't have fun. The desolate wasteland gives me exactly that feeling, it is indeed a desolate wasteland. I can't pinpoint what about the game makes it this way, as I have enjoyed other similar settings. (Fallout 3, Fallout: New Vegas) It quite baffles me, bringing together many features I think I should love; FPS, unique items, rpg-esque progression, open world, and many more.

Overall as far as I can tell it is probably because of previous gaming experiences, that borderlands to me feels like a crappy MMO. I know this is wrong because it is not an MMO, but I can't quite shake the feeling. It looks and plays for me as if the developer was creating a MMO, and got the bright idea to instead package it as a four player experience. Maybe they did too good a job creating a open wasteland for my conscious to handle, I am not sure. But I know for a fact I will not be playing either title much anytime soon. Comment below if you agree, disagree, or plain think I'm an idiot.

Without Want of a Swag 1

I begin this post with a disclaimer: I am neither the type of douchebag who says swag too often or acts as if my 'swag' is killing everyone. Nor am I the other end of the spectrum who rages every time fore mentioned douchebag says swag, or acts like the word is a felony. I am the type of douchebag who is mildly amused by either end of the spectrum however, I find it hilarious how one end find words such as 'Swag', or 'YOLO' so horrible. When in reverse they probably say or chat the word 'epic' allowed just as much.

Now onto what this post is about. I'm not a hipster, I don't think I'm fashionable. I don't follow trends. I am one particularly nerdy guy, who pays a remote amount of attention to the way he dresses. And thus what this post is about, periodically or however often it happens. I will post different clothes, accessories, etc; That I like or find rather cool. Despite being a nerd I think I am a rather snazzy dresser, I don't wear the most expensive or cheap clothes but I do take pride in each and ever clothing item that reveal my nerd pride. So while browsing the web I somehow stumbled upon this particularly cool hat.
These can be purchased at store.kineda.com After swearing to obtain this particularly awesome hat, I then looked about the net for other hats such at this. I quickly found myself on jinx.com purchasing these items as well.
It is hard to articulate the point of these posts, but mostly nerds dress horribly. I feel I do a great job of wearing nerdy implements, while not looking completely out of place such as some do. I will continue these posts as I find particularly quality items, that fit within my tastes.

Varying musical taste

I don't quite know why, but I stereotype my self. Because of this, I define my self in ways based on how different I am from stereotypes. Young black man, raised in the 'hood' persay. My musical tastes are strange for a child from such beginnings. So I'll give you a little backround. Neither of my parents are the average 'hood' parents, they were raised slightly lower to mid-middle class. When I was a child we lived pretty decent, I was spoiled. But this has little to do with my point, my point being their musical tastes don't fit in with the ghetto. My father grew up in the 70s-80s, he didn't wear blouses luckily. He had this cowboy swag, a indiana jones get-up, long before the movie. So he didn't really like rap when it came out, to this day he listens to more soul, r&b type music. (Although recently he told me he likes Rick Ross, I was shocked!) Teena Marie, Janet Jackson, Sade, etc. My mothers upbringing was much the same, she listens to Country, Soft Rock, Classic Rock. Michael Bolton, Johnny Cash, 'white people music' as it is said. Thus making my tastes quite strange for my neighborhood, until I was about 10 I didn't even like rap. (I still don't like Tupac, except Ghetto Gospel, and the song with Keyshia Cole.) When kids were discussing rap music, I was pretty clueless. I remember vaguely some kids talking about who was the best producer way back, Swizz Beats or Mannie Fresh. Didn't even know who they were, I started listening to rap due to wanting to fit in. My first tape was Soulja Slim, I then got Master P. They were really hot back then, we called ourselves TRU after them. So without anymore vague info on me, my point is I have rather silly taste in music. My taste in rap varies from hardcore, like old school master p, to hip-hop like Flo Rida. (I don't really listen to him, just an example.) My taste in rock/pop and 'white people music' is like John Mayer, Maroon 5, Bruno Mars, Linkin Park, The Fray. Now the reason for this entire rambling topic is, as I spoke of in my first post I wanted to start doing AMVs. So in my mind I've been throwing around three songs for a One Piece AMV, and none of these are similar at all. !. Stay Schemin - Rick Ross Feat Drake, French Montana. 2. Use Me - Al Jarreau 3. Rocketeer - Far East Movement So if any of you like any of these particularly let me know, if anyone is out there. NP:3

Past Failures

Greetings, I will start this blog, with a brief summary of my past blogs. Previous to this I started three other blogs; Wtf iz Y, CynicalSpawn, and Killin' it Audio. The first was supposed to be social commentary about my generation, the current one. I failed obviously. The second CynicalSpawn was much the same, but I'm not sure what the theme was, I do remember reviewing a movie or something. But that blog has the most views of of them all, so I must have been doing something right. (329 pageviews woot!) The last of these was Killin' it Audio, where for a short time I thought I was going to be a music producer. (Like Lex Luger) I didn't even finish my first beat, or finish one song. So in conclusion, I'm going to combine all of these into one. I still try to produce beats, so if I finish one I'll post it. (Don't hold your breath.) I also have some delusions of creating a AMV, so if I finish one I'll post it. There will be some social commentary, motivational posts, stories about me, reviews, posts about various medias (Music, Manga, News, TV, Movies.), and anything else I can think of. The goal will be a post daily, but I know I'll fall short of this. Welcome to Media Slave, and stay tuned. NP:1
